News from Ukraine and Romania September 19, 2022

September, 19 (Day 208)

Dear brothers and sisters,

The start of a new week is a real fall, with dark clouds, wind and cold. Here in Brasov it gets cold earlier and it’s unusual for me to wear a coat when the trees are still green.

Yesterday we had a good worship. Katya invited the family of her friend to come with us – her friend Nastya, Nastya’s mother and two children.

Pastor from Nikolayev, Andrei Vakulenko came to visit his family here and preached a sermon. His message was on the passage from Amos.

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.” Amos 8:11-12

It's such a blessing to hear “the words of the Lord” and to know the Lord and it’s such a tragedy when in time of adversity one cannot find God. That’s why it’s so important to share the words of the Lord and to help people know Him. I see this thirst in people in Ukraine now. It’s such an important time for the churches to be active and to fulfil the great commission of Jesus.

I remember the time in the 90s when people were thirsty for the truth and were seeking the truth. Many people came to know the Lord. It was the time when Sergey and me received Jesus. But there were also many people at that time who quenched their thirst with junk things that never gave them real filling. I pray for the people we meet every day, for every encounter to be meaningful and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

It will be hard for me to part with my daughter and my grandchildren today knowing that they are going to travel very far, but I give them into the hands of the Lord God and ask Him to be their guide.

Please, pray for me as I travel at night, because I don’t feel well.
